Understanding Color

Color is an important part of our lives and its everywhere. Imagine living your life in this world without color, and the only thing you see is black and white, how would you feel about it?. Color influences many of our daily decisions, consciously or unconsciously from what we eat and what we wear. Every color has a story and is not limited to what we see in the rainbow, there are a lot of colors out there that helps understand that story.

Let's talk about saturation. Every time we color a certain image we should be aware that saturation is not for adjusting the brightness or darkness of the image, but for adjusting the colors that are involved.

Figure 1.1

Here in the image above, you can see that red is different when desaturated. Don't overdo saturation because highly saturated color will look fake and unrealistic. It may also hurt the viewers eyes because of the strong amount of colors.

Saturation can also changed the mood of the Image. Well, I'm not saying that you shouldn't use saturation anymore because it might destroy your image; you just have to balance it out. It also depends on what style you have in mind or what looks you prefer, it still up to you because you'll be the one who's going to edit it and it's your own eyes that will see the colors.

Lastly, Cartoons are highly saturated because it's not real, and also to make it more lively and joyful and to keep the viewers entertained and interested as they watch.

So there you go, saturation is just one of the many things you need to understand when you adjust the colors and it's important to be knowledgeable about it.
