Workflow

Sometimes, it takes time for colorist to prepare in grading a certain project. if you're doing a project, make sure you're giving less time with stress and more time with creativity. We don't really know how long will take to finish a project; it depends on the size, length and type of project that you'll be grading.

In the example below, we're going to try to make it look dreamy in short and easy steps.

Like what I always say, balance the image first then create a new node, there you can apply the colors you want to add. Then create a layer node (alt + L). On the fourth node increase the amount of luma and lower the darker areas with it.

Then go to blur and increase it to max level.

After doing that, your image will look like this. But since you used layer node, it will mixed the nodes together and it will result to the image below.

Now, you have a very dreamy sequence. To add some flashes/grain go to the edit tab then if you have a clip to use load it on to the media pool then put it on top of the scene you want. Go to the inspector (located on the upper right corner) if you want to adjust the flash/grain that you added.

The video below shows how it will look like after you render it.
